If everything goes according to plan (which includes the weather settling down, motorways remaining clear and flights arriving on time), I'll be driving over to Nottingham later this morning, to meet with Colin Campbell.
This will be my second "shoot the breeze" meeting of the year - a chance to walk and talk for three hours.
Just catching up on our respective lives and discussing how we see the world at large and dentistry in particular.
I haven't got the time to go - there's a very long task list sat here on my desktop.
I wouldn't miss it for the world.
If Colin messages me in the next couple of hours to say that his flight has been delayed, I'll heave a sigh of relief and return to my task list.
If Colin messages me in the next couple of hours to say that his flight is on time, I'll heave a sigh of relief and get in my car.
If we meet, I've no idea whether our conversation will contain an epiphany that will speed my progress in life and/or business - but I'm happy to expose myself to the risk of that happening.
I can catch up with work every time I fall behind.
The chance to shoot the breeze with a best friend and thoughtful critic - that's gold dust.
