For the 26th time...



The exodus from independent practice ownership continues with hardly a week passing that I don’t hear from a client or contact they have decided to sell and want my help as an experienced whisperer in their ear. NHS, mixed, private and specialist – they are all jumping ship. I’ve written many times over the years about the reasons for a “distress sale”

  • To pay tax;

  • To settle a divorce;

  • To reduce debt;

  • Compliance and litigation fear;

  • HR and clinician fatigue;

  • NHS exasperation.

In the last two years we have added to that list two new sources of distress – Covid fatigue, arising from the burn out of just keeping going through the pandemic and Recruitment and Retention frustration as it becomes more difficult to hire and keep ideal people.
