Climbing Snowdon for the Mouth Cancer Foundation

There are some causes that deserve more than a passing mention. They deserve our energy, our attention, and, now and then, a proper challenge.
The Mouth Cancer Foundation is one of those causes.
As the only charity in the UK dedicated to walking for Mouth Cancer, the Foundation continues to do remarkable work in raising awareness, supporting patients and families, and bringing people together around a cause that is both deeply important and often overlooked. That matters, because mouth cancer remains a condition that changes lives profoundly, and the earlier people are aware of the signs and risks, the better.
I was delighted to hear that the Foundation’s newest ambassador, professional expedition leader Finlay Burke, has wasted no time in getting stuck in. Finlay is leading what promises to be a superb fundraising event on Saturday 29th August 2026, a climb of Mt Snowdon in Wales.
For those who fancy stepping up, the route will follow the Llanberis Path, the most popular and generally considered the easiest route to the 1,085 metre summit of Yr Wyddfa. Starting in Llanberis village, the challenge is a 9 mile round trip, with a steady climb alongside the mountain railway, and typically takes between five and seven hours to complete.
In other words, this is not a stroll in the park. But neither is it Everest.
It is exactly the kind of challenge that many people can take on with a bit of determination, a decent pair of boots, and the right reason to keep going.
The registration fee is £50, with a sponsorship target of £500. That is a realistic and worthwhile ask for an event that will not only raise vital funds, but also bring together a community of people who want to make a positive difference.
So the question is simple.
Are you in?
And if not you, perhaps a friend, a colleague, a family member, or one of those people who is always saying they want a challenge this year.
This would be a very good one.
