This morning's pub quiz.
Question 1 - what do all of these people have in common?
1. Harold Wilson
2. James Callaghan
3. Roy Jenkins
4. Denis Healey
5. Gordon Brown
6. Alistair Darling
7. Rachel Reeves
Answer: Since I was born in 1953, they all served as Chancellor of the Exchequer in a Labour Government.
Question 2 - How did they raise taxes?
Answer: By stealth - because that's what Labour do.
Question 3 - What did we all do as a result?
Answer : We all got up the next morning, went to work and carried on, as if nothing had happened, because we knew there was nothing we could do about it until we voted them out again.
Question 4 : What happened when we voted them out?
Answer : We replaced them with another lot and the cycle started again.
However, I am still looking forward to our Business Confidence Forum at 19:00 this evening, because we will have a chance to listen to the experts and make decisions on how we intend to show up as leaders over the next few months.
You can still register and join us for what, at the very least, will be an entertaining and upbeat conversation. I'm hoping you will be ready with your questions for our panel and that you will pick up some good tips.
