Using video to share real stories - and what that means for you

Like most things in business, there’s the intention—and then there’s the follow-through.

I’ve known for a while that collecting video testimonials from clients was something I “should” be doing. We’re constantly hearing about the power of social proof, authenticity, trust, etc. And I don’t disagree. But it kept falling to the bottom of the to-do list.

That changed last year when the team at Vocal Video made the process so straightforward it became difficult to justify the delay. They sent over a link, I shared it with a few clients, and within a week or two we had a collection of polished video testimonials that were ready to use—no filming days, no editing headaches, no chasing.

Since then, I’ve used the videos in a few ways:

• On the website, to show what Extreme Business 100 looks like from a client’s perspective

• In conversations with prospective members

• And occasionally on social, though I remain cautious about overdoing the “testimonial” content

Since then, our client videos have been viewed (wait for it) over 48,000 times (and that number is still rising every single day) - the reach and response has been simply phenomenal.

What I’ve found most valuable is that these clips are genuine. Clients talking, in their own words and in their own practices or homes, about what they’ve experienced. Not overly polished or rehearsed—just honest reflection. That’s rare, and worth hearing.
