Time management in the age of AI: Why we’re still overwhelmed 50 years after "The Time Trap"

Too much to do, not enough time – even with AI on our side
Too much to do, not enough time – even with AI on our side

Four x 90-minute webinars with an audience of Indian practice owners yesterday.

The #1 problem that was shared with us at the start of the day?

Time management - too much to do, not enough hours in the day to get things done, not enough of the right people to delegate to.

I shared with the audience that my first book on the subject was "The Time Trap" written by Alec Mackenzie and published in 1972.

Think about that.

Before the internet was switched on.

Before the first mobile phones.

Before tech.

But Alex Mackenzie was motivated to write a book about how we had too much to do, not enough hours in the day to get things done and not enough of the right people to delegate to.

By the way - what was Alec Mackenzie's solution?

  1. Make a list every day;

  2. A, B, C the list;

  3. Do the A's first.

It would appear that all this technology hasn't changed much about our lives. Perhaps because we use it to do more, rather than doing less.

Does that mean that AI is going to seduce us into taking even more on - and getting even further behind?
