The week begins – another adventure

Fluent I would love to live Like a river flows, Carried by the surprise Of its own unfolding John O’Donohue – Conamara Blues

It’s another busy week ahead and after preparing myself and discussing the “state of play” with Bonnie today, I’ll be on my travels, with full-day workshops in Leeds and Birmingham, a call-in and conference call day with my clients (that will be conducted from a hotel room somewhere in London), a meeting with my personal coach, further meetings with the development team of our new Producer Group and, finally, some time to walk the floor at The Dental Showcase in London. One of my FAQ’s is “how do you sustain your interest in workshops?” – meaning to deliver the same PowerPoint presentations day after day. The answer is that no two days are ever the same, because the audience create the event. I’m told there will be 111 people at our Leeds workshop (I think that’s a record) and about 35 in Birmingham. Different locations (the room makes a difference), different people, different dynamics. And there are suprises most days – sometimes a new friend and at other times an enemy who hates me and what I say. Either way, that keeps me right on my toes. I’m looking forward to every single one of those days – although travelling means that I have to revert to my routine of early morning email sessions, before the fun begins. I was taking a look around Tom Peters web site and blog a few days ago – and somewhat comforted to see a pictorial record of a “day in the life of” one of the world’s top business speakers. There he was, sat on his bed in his hotel room, surrounded by handouts on the bed and busy typing at his laptop. Just like me!

Maybe I do live like a river flows after all.
