The inbox can wait

Not every Bank Holiday needs a productivity score

For once, my Bank Holiday weekend had no agenda, travel, socialising or anything else.

Just a date night with Annie on Saturday at our favourite UK restaurant and a big note in my task management system to get my road bike ready for an upcoming cycling trip through Spain and France with Sheila Scott.

The bike was second on the list - first was sleep - and plenty of it.

It's hard for an ex-freelancer to walk away from the desk on the Monday though - it was always a "catch up day" and there were over 50 emails from clients plus direct messages on WhatsApp and Messenger that were calling to me from my home office when I woke yesterday morning.

However tough, I resisted the temptation to spend at least half the day answering.

There will be a price to pay - I start travelling at 14:00 today after a morning of Zoom calls, and I'll be on the road until Friday night.

So the inbox will be travelling with me and folks will have to wait.

But there comes a time when you have to rest - and the weekend was one of those times.
