Analysing the Financial Impact of MyDentist's Proposed Sale Launch

Writer: Chris BarrowChris Barrow

The proposed launch of the sale of MyDentist presents us with an interesting moment in dental history.

£84m adjusted EBITDA on £574m revenue in the year to March 2024, 47% private, 53% NHS.

That's a 14.60% profit margin - very good in the current climate for an associate-led business.

Projected £100m adjusted EBITDA in the current year.

Palamon Capital Partners bought a controlling stake in 2021, based on a valuation reputedly of £700m.

How much do you think it is worth today?

What messages do we hear if the sale goes through:

  • quickly at the desired price?

  • quickly at a much lower price?

  • slowly but the desired price is achieved?

  • slowly and the price ends up much lower?

Then, of course, there is the issue of who the new owner is?

All of this, at the moment, is a story yet to unfold - but given that we are talking about the biggest player in the game, the Jenga blocks are most likely wobbling in anticipation..

Don't miss the next exciting episode!
