Why unsubscribing every six months is the smartest productivity hack no one talks about

Put a note in your calendar or task manager, once every 6 months, to "unsubscribe" from all those newsletters that you have to delete every day, or that distract you.
One of my dates is 1st June and I'm enjoying taking the time to click on numerous "unsubscribe" links, often then visiting a landing page and (sometimes) telling them why.
It's cathartic to do that and reduce the rubbish that clogs up my inbox, because I previously had ticked a box that gave permission to send me marketing announcements.
I'll have less to scan every:
Christmas
New Year
Easter (Good Friday & Easter Monday)
Valentine's Day
Halloween
Bonfire Night
Mother's Day
Father's Day
Bank Holidays
Black Friday
Cyber Monday
Boxing Day Sales
Amazon Prime Day
World Health Day
Movember
Dry January / Veganuary
Stoptober
and less information to digest on:
Bikes;
Running shoes;
Fitness trackers;
Wine and Whiskey;
Books;
Tech;
Restaurants, Hotels and Conference Venues;
Adventure holidays;
And, of course, dental products, services and courses.
That's a lot less spam and a lot fewer distractions.
More time to enjoy the moment - and to think.
Until it builds up again.
