THINKING BUSINESS
a blog by Chris Barrow

In the post-BDA hole

Its a rainy day here in Cornwall and I am back at my desk after the Glaswegian adventures of the last few days. I have to say that the “one-day weekend” just does not suit my equilibrium – and it’s hard to be back at the start of a busy week after what seems like no time off at all. Which prompts me to reflect for a moment on that old chestnut of “work/life balance” (as if the opposite of “life” is “work”). I’m absolutely loving my professional life at the moment:

  1. helping to build private and specialist sales at IDH and inspired by two great meetings last week, with Felicity Taylor French (Business Development Manager South West) and Angela Johnstone (Regional Manager Scotland) during which we nailed plans to drive sales in the next 90-days

  2. continuing to work with my Bespoke coaching clients on their practice development

  3. meeting new people and old friends at the BDA (of which I have written in this week’s ezine – due out tomorrow)

  4. experimenting with virtual coaching (see this week’s ezine for a truly “knock ’em dead” offer

  5. planning a number of major business initiatives for the latter part of 2009

At the end of the year (possibly The Showcase), I’ll be doing something that will be ground-breaking and a major talking point in the profession – and I’m not going to tell you what it is yet! Planning the rest of my speaking tour with Practice Plan, a mini-tour with Paddi Lund later this year and a potential speaking tour of Australia next year with the great man. Working with 3M Espe on their launch into digital dentistry. The world just seems full of opportunity at the moment. BUT……. It’s important not to burn out. So I’ll be keeping an eye on myself in tne months ahead. And looking forward to Falmouth’s Sea-Shanty Festival this weekend.
