"Can a Simple Coaching Exercise Really Change Your Life for the Better?"

There's a coaching exercise that I've been using for 25 years now - and it's simple but incredibly effective.

  1. Take a sheet of paper;

  2. Draw a vertical line down the centre;

  3. Top left write the word "MORE";

  4. Top right write the word "LESS"

  5. Write down what/who you would like MORE of in your life;

  6. Write down what/who you would like LESS of in your life;

  7. Take the appropriate action, irrespective of the effect you imagine it will have;

  8. Repeat every 90 days for the rest of your life.

It's the seventh step that is the most difficult, of course.

Lists are easy.

Doing something different is tough, scary, uncomfortable to start with.

That's where the growth is.

Cue controversial - I've found that more and less of "who" creates more positive change that more and less of "what".
