The Mysterious Disappearing Google Reviews – Is Your Business Affected?

I have never written and published two blog posts in one day but........
Over the weekend my clients have been reporting that their Google reviews have started vanishing - some by over 10% of the numbers collected.
No common themes are appearing - it's not reviews collected on site, there is no regional variation that I can see - and this morning I discover that my own Google reviews (every one of them 5-star) have gone down from 330+ to 300+ - another 10% loss.
I have multiple posts on our Owner's WhatsApp Group - all saying similar things - and how demoralising that is for teams that are chasing review targets.
So - is this happening to you - and does anyone out there have any clue as to what's going on?
