Innovation in the business of dentistry

In 2013 the pace of innovation in the business of dentistry has gradually accelerated – and as the year draws to a close there seems to be no let up. Earlier this week I teased you about a new service that 7connections will launch in 2014 – The Magic Box – it will take the “to do” list for marketing off your desk.

On Wednesday I attended a Board Meeting at Welltime Limited and caught up with CEO Mubbasher Khanzada on their continued application development, adding to their existing suite (see yesterday’s guest blog on Patient Connections). I recently posted a video blog on the True North application – the first business analytics dashboard in 20 years of coaching that has excited me – and I’m looking forward to the promised launch of True North at The Dentistry Show. Yesterday in London I met with The App Garden management team and saw the first glimpse of a new mobile application that they are developing for 7connections. Our application will be focused on the needs of our clients, not just a mobile web site to “sell our stuff”. We want those who download the app to be able to ask us questions, we want clients to be able to update their progress and we want the dental community to have access to our knowledge bank of resources – templates, protocols, mind-maps, spreadsheets and a host more. Together with a brand new web site under construction by our friends at ApexHub, we will be re-launching a new-look 7connections in the New Year. I’m also excited that The App Garden are currently developing a brand new mobile application service for dental practices. For the last few months I have been one of their corporate friends, helping them to design an application structure that will take mobile dental apps to a new level – again, not just a mobile web site but an application that will improve patient retention, improve recall rates, grow your social media community and act as a lead generation and lead conversion assistant. During our meeting they demonstrated two alternative applications – single and multi-site – that have been developed for two dentists I know – the results are impressive and I expect their product to launch in the New Year. Back at 7connections HQ (a mythical place in The Cloud), we continue to learn the ins and outs of Infusionsoft, not only in the context of managing our own database of friends – but also working hard on developing Infusionsoft systems and training for our clients in 2014, so that they can begin to enjoy the benefits of cloud-based CRM. To see an example in action take a look at Burleson Orthodontics in the USA. I frequently make reference to the innovation curve (above) and know that only 2.5% of practice owners will buy these products and services next year – that’s OK because our clients will be amongst them.
