Letter to transfer maintenance away from the principal
Dear Patient
You will be aware that over the last few years there has been a considerable increase in the variety and complexity of dental treatment – with particular reference to smile design.
The popularity of TV shows and media interest in smile enhancement has created an increase in demand.
This change in market conditions means that many dental practices have had to carefully re-think the way that they deliver treatment, in order to maintain their standards of customer service and clinical care.
In the past, it was usual for a patient to visit the same hygienist and dentist for many years – a time when dental procedures were relatively simple and limited in their scope.
In the future, the 21st Century practice will focus more on the needs of the patient – and this may mean that, from time to time, the patient will visit more than one clinician in the practice:
a hygienist for oral health care and regular assessments
a therapist for dental hygiene, tooth whitening and simple dental procedures
a general dentist for long-term maintenance, repair and smile design
a dentist with a special interest in more complex procedures for expert work

Over the next 12 months, we will be asking Dr Associate to take on more of the regular visits that our patients enjoy, so as to leave more time for Dr Principal to devote to the more complex requirements.
Dr’s A and P may also work as a team on some cases.
