Possibly the worst hotel ever?

I’m at the Essex County Hotel in Southend on Sea, after an epic but enjoyable 350-mile drive from Falmouth yesterday afternoon and evening.
If ever a hotel did NOT live up to its web site - this is it.
My fellow guests overnight are:
- a drunken cricket team
- a party of German businessmen who appear quite bewildered by their environment
- a steady stream of middle aged men, all of whom look like cowboy builders and each of whom is accompanied by a much younger lady who appears to be bracing herself for a night of gymnastics
My “executive” room has all of the home comforts of an army barracks.
The hotel itself looks as if its a holding camp for illegal aliens.
£108.00 bed and breakfast (I haven’t tried the breakfast yet) - robbery.
Every now and then, business travel sucks.
Saving grace?
I arrive at 9.00 pm, I’m in bed my book and the door double-locked at 10.00 pm - I’ll be out of here by 8.30 am and will never return.
This evening at the Watford Hilton - back to civilisation.
And now - off to visit a new practice in the town - and give ‘em hell.

Had a look at the Essex county hotel website...are you
Paul Cole | July 30, 2008Had a look at the Essex county hotel website…are you sure you arrived at the right place?. Clearest case of deception if you judge it by the pictures on the website and your picture. Apparantly painting something orange makes it meditteranean!
