At my desk

The next two days are dedicated to business development and, although I love them all dearly, not having to visit with clients is a blessing.
As this momentary respite has approached in the calendar, my “to do” list has filled and I’m going to be uber-busy with a variety of important tasks.
A couple of quotes from the last few days have resonated:
- If your business is like an oil rig from which you cannot escape - there’s little point in building a bigger oil-rig;
- In difficult times, a long-term strategy is always better than a short-term panic.
The profits warning from Marks & Spencer yesterday was a tolling bell for the recession - and we must all take heed and improve our marketing as well as batten a few hatches.
I intend to think deeply about this in the next 10 days - and suggest you do the same.
How do I know the recession is biting?
Because I had my first bounced cheque from a client in 12 years yesterday - and I’m mad as hell about it.
